Pajama's in Public - Trend Report

The pajama has got to be my favorite trend from 2012,

Here is why!

It is transitional- withstands all seasons.

Come summer - A nice hat and vibrant prints.

Come Winter - A great coat.

Minimal Effort : All you need is a great beauty look and great shoes to primp the look. (No corsets or push ups required)

A comfy trend – and it does not compare to sweatpants! The look achieved is not baggy and frumpy but a lot more sophisticated –  the vibe  we are aiming at is  Hamptons cool.

   Here is one,

Even though I am not considered the greatest fan in the world of Rita Ora's stylist. I do agree on   the sensibility of this mixed media pajama trend.

It makes Ora look more adult and gives a vibe for effortless cool, than the normal teenage ensembles that she is seen in (However, I absolutely adore her new radioactive tour outfits by  Emilio Pucci - again a transition into uncomplicated ready to wear)

Here is one,

Rita Ora at the British Fashion Awards 2012

This street snap channels spring this year - It incorporates three trends in a fluid form - High waist, Pajama and metallics that only creates chic.

Here, the Pajama trend in a  louis vuitton reintroduces us to prints against the signature stripes we are normally used to in pajamas.

Stella McCartney plays with crisp whites to provide cool to a warm spring/summer, and a vibrant pink brings playful back to the front row.

Again, my trend forecast - doting on the dot is proven right here, when the pajama is dotty it creates a casual yet comfort print which becomes a basic yet accessible look.

Lindsey Wixson introduces us to the amalgamation of the pajama trend onto suiting.

The prints are myriad and fresh.

Suits take it up a notch when pretty summer florals creep onto the must have trend of the moment.

Here, is the evolution of the trend onto a skirt ensemble. Which predicts that the pajama trend transitions.

P.s. - Done wrong, the pajama can cause people to stare and wonder !!

a. That the walk of shame has bygone the daylight hours.

b. If you are a stalwart of  'The emperors new pajamas!!'

c. If you belong in the blog crowd - or to be safe assume the stance and own it ! (Atleast they'll be too scared to comment worrying over ending up in the untrendy post).

Sheer Delight - Trend Report

Sheer Fabrics are like long distance relationships. They exist ceaselessly without the discrepancies of having to vouch for their existence. The transparencies lie without the physical form.

I love how transitional this dress can be - It is a piece that works between both winter and summer.

Here Lindsey Wixson glows by the beach in sheer resort wear for Harper's Bazaar Korea.

A piece by Atsu, with floral appliques channels the applique vibe.

Taking floral applique to print, Lela Rose is perfect for a warm summer night complete with sheer elegance.

Moving away from pretty floral prints the Danica plaid dress with sheer chiffon overlay lasts through a tedious work day to the bar later.

Topping off that corporate chic vibe I recommend the transparent raincoat thats barely there, take a risk!

Marion cottilard is all glory in this bustier ball dress that is sheer genius.

Two mainstay trends sheer and peplum are a win win situation with a strong lip and a top knot.

The sheer side panels on her bottoms add a more streamlined look.

Carrie Bradshaw approves! for reference see the sheer pink tutu.

Tote - Ally Obsessing - Trend Report

These Totes were made Furla-ving

Top handles are a favorite especially when they become spacious enough to give you the luxury of carrying more than is necessary for your daily subsistence.

Welcome to the confessions of a bagaholic.

Paris Street Style, Michelle Harper, Vanitas Collection Versace

A good tote outweighs the benefits of its competitor. It smoothly transforms for morning to night as gracefully as you switch your dress code. it lasts the emergencies of a last minute and survives the top to bottom scan that you get when you enter the room and smirks at the oohs and aahs of your frenemies.

Furla which just newly launched in India this year, has totes quite noteworthy , The green croc below is a must have for the workplace, It provides enough space for the essentials and more, I am even looking at a pair of heels getting stuffed in the same . It will go with practically all basics if you dare.

A good tote sits patiently and basks in admiration

The Burberry orchard bag does just that- it uses the quilt pattern dutifully and transforms the bag into a luxury. well it is one considering that is Burberry  The edges are feminine and graceful thus the name -The Orchard Bag

A LIST SNAKE TOTE

No post for bags is complete with out my obsessive love for Henri Bendel's. The A - List Snake tote is the reason I would wake up for work in the morning.

"Kelly Neon,'' a sculpture by Alexandra Plat, in the "variations on Kelly and Birkin" room at the "Leather Forever" exhibit in London.

And, Any mention of totes goes incomplete without Hermès - the art and class of the Kelly Bag is immortalized in this piece by sculptor Alexandra Plat.

Doting on the DOT - Trend Report

I fancy the Dot for fall, simple, perfect yet uncomplicated.

We have a winner for a speck this fall and its the beloved polka dot. The myriad fancy of the polka dot lies in the creative ability that it assumes- It could be ladylike, fierce or pop art if used wisely.

Next year is all about the dot
And Yayoi...

Louis Vuitton unveiled the collaboration of the Yayoi Kusama collection amidst curiosity and the wonderment that surrounds such a basic concept: The dot!

The curiosity was also pertaining to Kusama's much publicized mental health but the perfect ability to create and express spectacular artistic vision and detail, but I'll get to that in another post.

The entire Louis Vuitton collection is overflowing with the dot in various forms, shapes and sizes in dresses, bags, shoes, sunglasses and the occasional peter pan collar.

The collection looks psychedelic and pop art infused as Yayoi once worked with Andy Warhol which explains a lot . The bangs she sports are timeless even though I don’t agree with the red hair but it does agree with her.

With Karl Lagerfield developing manga and considering himself a cartoon this collaboration seems spot on similar in nature.

These minimalist cuffs are gorgeous. I picture these as the top addition with a plain gold link chain on a pair of blue denim skinnies and a white v neck… what a fab day it will be for casual dressing- and that’s just one version of it.

The peter pan collar will add the much needed pop of color and print to all basics.

Shoes have already started showing signs of yayoi’s influence. Recently during fashion week in Milan/Paris Tommy Ton captured this stunning dotty pair.

The glasses totally channel yayoi’s signature sunglasses look. J'adore.

The dot is showing up as a style statement in everything else around as it is seen here in the Green Current Elliott bottoms that  that are fabulous and I just got a pair of navy blues tailored myself like Poppy Delevigne.

Now that I notice it - I see the dot everywhere

I see the dot everywhere for Fall.

This shirt is such an essential, its workplace chic and casual chic combined. It shows you dots can play up basics with ease.

Clémence Poésy uses it well at Burberry for Fashion Week this year.

And before I leave the dot paired with some signature casual wear - Gorgeous for a Sunny day at the Flea Market (there's about that coming up).

And here on Harding it looks hot and busy.

Yes and Thats me rocking some dots in 11' but I believe that's what trend forecasting is about -  predict what will come to be.

Thanks for reading,

XOXO,LeMot

I Need Some Space - Trend Report

Palazzos and wide legged trousers for this Fall.

Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013

Oscar de la Renta successfully combines two trends from 2012 for Resort 2013 - one is the Pajama trend with prints and the other is the cropped top trend for this Wide legged cool nonchalance. Tres Chic!

The fluid motion and freedom that one gets in wide legged trousers are unmatched when compared to other trends bound to bottom wear - like the nerve reducing skinnies that induce fainting and are not recommended for long flights, or the cropped trousers that look awkward if you don't pay heed to the occasion you're wearing it for.

Stella McCartney and Street Style during Fashion Week

Here, The wide legged pants and Pallazzo transforms  from Metallic fluidity to Florals at Stella McCartney and an All White subtle yet powerful transformation.

Wide legged trousers are an all time favorite trend that any shape or size can embrace. It fits the work wear scene as well as it fits the casual lounge look for the day you do your chores.

Chanel Couture

The Chanel couture look channels comfort as well as a decorous vibe that transforms the wearer, its the sophisticated alternative to the sequinned Disco Ball look.

Bouchra Jarrar

I recommend these Bouchra Jarrar pleated wide legged pants from couture for some free flow of energy with a corporate vibe.

Wide Legged Pants are a yes for Fall 2012.

A lesson in Editorial Sartorial Elegance - Trend Report

Yes!  you read it right, its all about ANNA.

Anna Wintour is THE most celebrated figure in Fashion.

The obsession with Anna Wintours legendary status in  fashion is something that the industry just aims at achieving but to little avail.

Prom Chanel style with Love Birds Anna And Karl.- This needs to be put in a frame.

Some eponymous names that come to mind when I think Fashion Legends that have shaped the scope of fashion, trends, and merging celebrity, sports (Remember roger federer is a fan of anna!), politics, animation etc  are Karl Lagerfield, Coco Chanel as a select few. The newcomers fade away and there is hardly any staying power in the ones that do have their fifteen minutes of glory.

Anna Wintour is a Genius -  The ever increasing advertising in VOGUE doesn't seem to portray the dwindling success of print and the increasing awareness in digital media .

She is the be all and end all of the fashion world holding up fort with perfect bangs that have survived many a fashion weeks, celebrity and VOGUE September issues.

Anna Wintour in Marc Jacobs

For one, Hosting the first and second benefit for obama's presidential campaign with Sarah Jessica parker, and Harvey weinstein, Anna succeeds in impressing and connecting fashion to spheres that were never thought possible. Politics was hardly synonymous with fashion in respect to campaigns.

Sarah Jessica Parkers takes Anna Wintours advice on longer hemlines but sticks to Signature Sarah Style with sheer.

Channeling Anna Wintour in Lace

Anna is why fashion stands at the pedestal it is on today. I am not writing a biography for her as this is just a touch of her editorial style. Which should have its own look book. Anna
epitomizes the trends that are back today knee hemlines, Tweed which is an Anna mainstay, Sunglasses and Poker faces to the most sublime runway shows.

Channeling Anna Wintour with Chanel Couture

The Chanel couture collection deciphers Anna  - Soft Pastel pinks, Ivory skirt suits with fine craftsmanship that are just the starters for a bevy of envy of all tweedy editors. Palazzo pants in fluid fabrics that sashay like smooth butter fit for the modern day practical queen’s desires.

Channeling Anna Wintour with Chanel

The soft feathery berets are on my wish list for winter. The collection is overflowing with Feminine silhouettes, quintessential Chanel outfits with a variation like the palazzo pants, tweed and just the right amount of shine like the glossy spreads in VOGUE.

Longer Hemlines epitomise ladylike elegance yet a skirt suit embodies cool nonchalance.

Channeling Anna is fashion defined.
